🥵 Blaugust Day 3: Don't get heatstroke

Sorry for the quick post today, but I am exhausted and need to take a break. I will come back tomorrow to blog the things I wanted to blog about, but for now I leave you with an important bit of advice: do not get heatstroke. This includes:

  • Staying in the shade and avoiding standing in direct sunlight. Parasols and hats are good but even then, don’t stand in the sun if you can help it
  • Wear cool, loose-fitting, light clothing (both in terms of material and color) that allows the breeze to pass through
  • Drink lots of water and electrolytes (e.g. sports drinks). Avoid caffeine and other diuretics if possible
  • Sunglasses + sunscreen to protect your eyes and skin from all that sunlight
  • Pack as light as possible, i.e. carrying a big heavy backpack is a good way to needlessly exhaust yourself
  • Speaking of which, GET LOTS OF REST. Take it easy, stick to the shade as much as possible. (Getting somewhere with AC is even better)
  • Avoid going out during the hottest times of the day. Check the weather forecast for when that will be, but generally 10am-3pm are the worst hours to be standing outside in the sun

Why am I bringing this up? Foreshadowing.

I’ll be back tomorrow!! See you then 👋
