šŸŽ® Blaugust Day 2: Frog Detective 2

Dark forested path leading to the town of Warlock Woods

I kept putting off writing today’s Blaugust entry until now, and now it is suddenly after 11pm! I have less than an hour to get this up before the clock rolls over! So I am going to cheat and just blogify some Frog Detective 2 screenshot LP posts I threw up on Mastodon late last night. (You can see my screenshot LP of the first game here.) I guess ā€œscreenshot LPā€ is overselling it since I stopped taking screenshots during the main part of the game because I didn’t want to give too much away. If you like what you see here, you should definitely check out the game for yourself!

Just like with the first case, Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard is a first-person point-and-click mystery game. You talk to people, take down their statements in your handy dandy notebook, collect clues, solve the mystery, that kind of thing. Except, you know, more chill, and can be played in about an hour. I love a good one-session game, so this is my jam.

We kick things off with the Supervisor…

Oh my god?! I finally get to meet…

The book slander continues šŸ˜”

A new element this time around is the aforementioned notebook, which you get to decorate with stickers… I may have gone a bit overboard…

3D rendering of my notebook with a bunch of colorful stickers plastered on the cover, and a confirmation box asking "Good book?" with options "yep" and "nah"

I love Lobster Cop but what is up with some of these pictures on his wall 😭

It was hard to pick a favorite suspect because there are so many good characters here, but then I met Mary and she just blew all the competition away.

Frog Detective talking with Mary the fabulous gray rhinoceros. Mary: "I love to sing at threeeeeeeeeeeee AM!"

I am also quite taken by Carlos. He’s got a shop full of junk, and an absolutely atrocious work ethic. Carlos, it is time for a vacation.

Carlos the zebra standing in his store full of plants, photographs, and other goods. Each item is labeled with a number.

Just like the first episode, it was cute, quick, and lovely. Do you want to hang out with funny animals in an incredibly chill, low-stakes game for about an hour? The Frog Detective games are perfect for this.

Another case solved!

Slight spoilers

This time around, there were also two endings, though they aren’t radically different. But at least when you tell the truth, you get one last amazing anecdote about Mary, undefeated queen of my heart.

And that’s it for this time! Tomorrow, we will be going to Pixel Art Park so I hope to be able to blog about that! See you then šŸ‘‹
