šŸ„ Outta the hospital

I haven’t blogged in a while but I figured I should at least pop up now to say that I am out of the hospital! I checked in last Thursday (August 13), had my surgery the next day, and then spent the weekend in the hospital and got to check out this morning. I am back at home resting and relaxing and trying to get back in shape. It’ll be a minute til I’m running at a hundred, but considering I just had a big chunk of flesh removed from my body, I’m doing pretty okay!

The hospital food was honestly really good, though the portions were kind of too much for me (especially the rice). But all in all, thumbs up, great food.

I mentioned this before, but I had my uterus removed, along with some truly enormous uterine fibroids. My surgery was originally supposed to be about three or four hours, but ended up dragging past the six-hour mark. I didn’t realize it at the time since I was knocked out, but Daikon told me later that the surgeon was having trouble getting the damn fibroids out of me because they were so huge. They needed to cut them up inside of my body to try and squeeze them out of the hole and get them out. I haven’t seen the pictures (nor do I want to) but they did apparently show them to Daikon who said the fibroids were absolutely monstrous and the whole thing was Quite Disgusting.

I do have to go back in later next week for followups, make sure that my stitches haven’t ripped or gotten infected or anything like that. I also need to get my blood tested for prediabetes since I am apparently in the Danger Zone. Even if I’m not actually diabetic, it was certainly a wake-up call to change my eating habits and start taking better care of myself. More veggies and protein like tofu and nuts, fewer sugary snacks and drinks, and more exercise. Daikon and I have restarted our gym memberships and have been trying to get back into the swing of things… well, Daikon has, anyway. I’m not allowed to put any strain on my body for a while… terrible timing, honestly…

I’ve also finally gone to see a dentist for the first time since… before the pandemic, I think. I have been told I need to floss more, which has always been my weak point. I hate flossing, bleh. But if this is what it takes to become my Ultimate Thembo Self then SO BE IT!!

I know it’s pretty late to try to jump on the Blaugust bandwagon, and oh my god I have fallen behind on my link roundups. I might try to get back on that later today, tomorrow at the latest. I mean, what else am I going to do, I’m pretty much ordered to rest and not move around too much for a couple of weeks, I might as well blog.

Oh! And I made an account over at RetroAchievements! Now that I’ve figured out how to get it working on my Miyoo, it’s been neat seeing what homebrew (and cough commercial) games have achievements. I know achievements aren’t for everyone, but if you have an account there, let’s be buds!

Walfie’s Nonograms is an excellent homebrew Picross-like and you can play it on anything that runs GameBoy Color carts AND it has RetroAchievements!

Okay, I think I shall do a big link roundup tomorrow because I am currently at capacity. It’s good to be back among the living! Be back soon, I hope!!
